1. What Will Happen on My Initial Visit?
This appointment is all about gathering the information we need to assess your orthodontic needs and plan your treatment.
We will ask you questions, take pictures of your smile and radiographs if needed. On some occasions, we also scan your teeth so that you can have a 3D view of them.
Then Dr. Rad will conduct a complete oral exam to determine your treatment needs
Before you leave, we will provide you with a full outline of your treatment plan and payment options so that you can make an informed decision.
2. What if I Choose Not to Start Treatment After Visiting You?
Your first consultation comes with zero obligations. We hope that your first consultation will at least give you a better understanding of your oral health and orthodontic needs so that you can make an informed decision later on.

5. Can I Accompany My Child to Their First Appointment at Rad Orthodontics?
Yes, in fact, we prefer to have parents present at the initial consultation. Having braces is a family business! The parents understanding of the treatment and their support throughout the treatment has a big impact on the result of the treatment.
6. Do I Really Need to Get Braces?
The goal of the orthodontic treatment is
– To give you beautiful smile by straightening your teeth
– To improve your function by making your teeth fit together properly
– To improve your oral health. Misaligned and crooked teeth are harder to clean and increase the risk of decay and gum disease
7. Are Braces Painful?
Moving teeth can cause discomfort. The level of discomfort varies from patient to patient. This is however temporary and goes away within a few days.
At Rad Orthodontics, we will give you tips to minimise any discomfort that may arise. You can always reach our doctor if you have any discomfort that needs care.
8. Is It Too Late for Me to Get Braces?
It is never too late to straighten your teeth. More adults are getting braces/aligners these days. As long as you have healthy gums and bones, there is not age limit to improve your smile
9. How Do I Clean My Teeth With Braces?
The day you get your braces, we go over the brushing techniques and give you tips to keep your teeth clean and healthy during your treatment. We will also give you a kit that contains some oral hygiene supplies.
10. What Is the Best Type of Braces?
There are different kinds of braces, appliances and aligners that orthodontic specialists use to align the patients’ teeth and jaws. Each patient is different and may need a specific type of appliance during their treatment.
11. How Long Does an Orthodontic Treatment Take?
The length of the treatment depends mostly on the complexity of the treatment.
Other factors, such as age and cooperation, can also affect the length of the treatment.
12. Can My Teenager Have Invisalign®?
Invisalign® is another treatment option for many teenage orthodontic patients. To find out whether Invisalign® is the right treatment for your teen, however, we recommend scheduling an orthodontic consultation first.
13. What Is the Best Age for My Teen to Get a Consultation?
The sooner the better.
In teenage years, growth works to our advantage to correct many jaw discrepancies. Once we are past the growth spurt, it becomes much harder to correct certain issues.
Keep in mind that one of the best ways you can invest in your child’s future is by giving them a beautiful and healthy smile.
